Delta Air Lines is continuing its expansion of Salt Lake City as an international hub with a new nonstop to Lima, Peru, starting with its inaugural outbound flight on December 4, 2025. This route will be tested with a peak winter season run, operating daily until January 25, 2026, and if successful will hopefully return as a year-round route.
DL 193 connects South America directly from the Mountain West, avoiding transfers in Los Angeles, Houston or Atlanta. It will save Salt Lake City passengers at least 2 hours and 45 minutes versus the fastest connecting options.

Delta uses a Boeing 767-300 on SLC-LIM, with 147 seats in Delta Main (Economy) in a 2-4-2 configuration, 21 seats in Delta Comfort, 18 seats in Delta Premium Select and 26 suites in Delta One with lie-flat beds. Economy seats offer a reasonable 31-33 inches of seat pitch.
International Delta Main (Economy) meal service features a three-course menu and a full selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including spirits.
The timing of the outbound overnight flight is perfect for encouraging 5-7 hours of sleep on board. Returning to Salt Lake, the early afternoon departure from Lima makes for a pleasant early evening arrival of 7:25pm. The minimal time change, only two hours in winter months, makes short trips between Utah and Peru relatively painless.

How to plan a 2-day trip to Lima, Peru
While most visitors to Peru will be heading on to Cúsco and Machu Picchu (1h20 flight from Lima), Lima is definitely worth a short stay first.
Upon arrival at Jorge Chávez International Airport, take an authorized taxi or the Airport Express bus to Miraflores and check into a modern hotel like Casa Andina Standard Benavides for a 1-or 2-night stay. Drop your bags and head out to explore Miraflores.
Consider stopping in at one of the Tourist Information Centers in Miraflores (with free walking tours) for help planning your day. Visit Kennedy Park, Parroquia Virgen Milagrosa, Parque del Amor and the Indian Market. If it’s raining and you prefer to be indoors, head to Larcomar, a modern shopping center with plenty of Peruvian shops and restaurants.
The next morning, take a taxi to the top-rated Larco Museum (open 9am-7pm daily). Have lunch at the museum restaurant, then continue by taxi to Lima’s historic center to visit the Lima Cathedral and Plaza de Armas. Return to Miraflores and stay another night, enjoying a casual dinner at Mercado 28, or retrieve your bags and head to the airport for an onward flight to Cúsco.
